History
Situated on the banks of the Baner river near Palampur, this 700-year-old temple was moved to its present location by a local king and priest after the goddess appeared in their dreams. It is one of the most powerful Shakti Peeths in Kangra Valley.
Architecture
Set in a picturesque riverside location with the Dhauladhar range as backdrop. The sanctum has an image of Chamunda flanked by Hanuman and Bhairav.
Mythology & Legend
Chamunda was created by Durga to slay the demons Chanda and Munda. She is worshipped as the destroyer of evil and protector of devotees.
