Himachal's harvest celebration of its most famous crop
The Apple Festival celebrates Himachal's ₹5,000-crore apple economy. Farmers, exporters, and researchers showcase 300+ apple varieties, from the classic Royal Delicious to new self-pollinating cultivars.
Apples were introduced to Shimla hills by Samuel Stokes in 1916 in Kotgarh village. The festival was formalized by the HP Horticulture Department in the 1980s to promote apple tourism and farmer incomes.
