3-layer system
- •Base: thermal top + bottom (merino ideal)
- •Mid: fleece 200gsm or light down
- •Shell: waterproof/windproof jacket + pants
Extremities
80% of heat loss.
- •Insulated waterproof gloves + liner gloves
- •Wool beanie + neck gaiter
- •Wool socks × 4 (never cotton)
Footwear
- •Waterproof snow boots (Quechua SH500 or better)
- •Gaiters if going above 8,000 ft
